1. Repertoire Requirements:

 

The entries should represent a high level of choreography and performers shall have solid dance foundation. The entries shall promote positive and healthy themes and they are free from religious discrimination, human rights slaver and political propaganda. The organizing committee reserves that do not adhere by the requirements and disqualify them from competitors. Lighting effects are not part of the judging criteria, and all performances will use default lighting setup.

 

2. Props Requirements:

 

In order to ensure the safety of dancers and a smooth competition process, only props held on hand are allowed in the competition. Dangerous articles such as liquids, open fires, powders and smoke are prohibited. Dancers are responsible for the transportation of props and the costs incurred. Participants must also make arrangements for the transportation of props on and off the stage. During the competition, no back stage assistance will be provided.

 

3. Age Specifications:

 

1) Soloists are to compete in their respective age category.

2) The age category for duets, trios, group and ensemble are determined by the oldest contestant in the dance piece.

 

4. Photography, videography and sound recordings are strictly prohibited in the competition venue.

 

5. The organizing committee will not accept any competition piece which may lead to copyright disputes. Due to the possibility of entering dance pieces with same names, the organizing committee will not be able to review whether the dance piece may cause copyright disputes before the competition . Contestants should verify if the dance piece is eligible for the competition. If there is any copyright dispute that arises, the committee will disqualify the contestants without any refund.

 

 

6. Copyright:

 

Once enrolled in the competition, the contestants agree that the organizing committee owns the copyright for all photos and videos taken during the competition. The contestants shall not have any objections to the use of the photos and videos for promotional purposes by the committee.

 

7. Decisions:

 

VANDA International Arts Festival Organizing Committee has the rights to all final decision of the rules and regulations, and the results of the competition. The decision of the judges on distribution of any award, medal, scholarship and prize is final and irrevocable. VANDA judges reserves the rights to not offer any published award, medal, scholarship or prize if no suitable candidate is identified. 

 

8. Dance Duration Limit:

• Professional Group

  • Solo: 4 minutes

  •  Duet: 5 minutes

  •  Trio: 5 minutes

  •  Group: 5 minutes (4 to 8 contestants)

  •  Ensemble: 6 minutes (9 or more contestants)

 

• Non-professional Group

  •  Solo: 3 minutes

  •  Duet: 4 minutes

  •  Trio: 4 minutes

  •  Group: 5 minutes (4 to 8 contestants)

  •  Ensemble: 6 minutes (9 or more contestants)

 

9. Competition Music:

 

All competition music should be uploaded to VANDA International Arts Festival official website www.hongleidance.com in MP3 format via the registration site.In the event of technical issues, contestants can email the music to zhoulei@hongleidance

.com, indicating the contestant information in the email. Please also bring a copy of music in MP3 format on the day of competition, in case of any technical issue in the competition venue.

 

10. VANDA International Arts Festival organizing committee recommends all contestants to make their own insurance arrangements. The committee shall not be held liable for any injury and/ or accident before and during the competition, and no compensation will be made.
